This year Red Bank Catholic began offering a new course for students interested in the intricacies of Computer-Aided Design and Drafting, or “CADD.” CADD replaces the drafting table, using computer technology to design and draft in fields ranging from mechanical engineering to architecture to medical device design. Aided by a new fully-functional computer lab, our students receive hands-on instruction from instructors Mr. Mike Ientile and Mr. Bryan Nesci. The course integrates the use of the highly-regarded SolidWorks software program to give students real world experience in computerized design. It allows for both two and three-dimensional project creation.
This laboratory classroom is also equipped with a 3D printer that produces student-designed three dimensional projects. The course is currently a senior only elective but will be expanded to other grades in the future. It also partners with the students in the RBC engineering courses to transform their ideas into three dimensional, physical products. RBC is proud to offer an outlet and the tools to cultivate and inspire our bright and creative Caseys!
