First semester club and activity meetings began this week and are off to a great start. A few times each month, the regular class schedule includes an activity period so all students have the opportunity to participate in clubs and activities that won’t conflict with other after school commitments. Students choose from a varied selection of over 50 clubs which contribute to the energetic school community and cover a wide range of interests. Many incorporate a service component and give back to the surrounding community as well. The clubs jumped right into working on service projects and planning events for this year.
Walking the halls the other day, one could see students in the Photography Club learning about and practicing glass ball refraction, Garden Club members exploring the world of sustainable agriculture and how it can improve by integrating technology, the Casey Caregivers Club members creating games and activities for the students of the Schroth School, the Gaming Group playing their favorite tabletop games together, the Phys Ed Club enjoying some friendly team competition, the Robotics Competition Club beginning the process of designing and building a fully automated robot puppy and the editors and staff of the school newspaper The Signpost, sharing ideas for their first issue, just to name a few. Check back throughout the year to learn more about what our clubs are doing!
